Halal Mexican is less a contradiction than a Bay Area inevitability, and Hisham Abdelfattah built El Halal Amigos on it in 2020, starting from a truck and travelling through Michoacán and Nayarit to get the recipes straight. Everything is halal certified, birria and brisket barbacoa included, which means a whole set of Willow Glen families can finally order tacos without asking questions first. Ask for extra nar, the house chile sauce the nar-chos are named after.
