Granville Island Public Market has been operating under a repurposed industrial shed on the south shore of False Creek since 1979, and it hasn't needed to become a theme park to stay relevant - the produce, fish, cheese, and bakeries are genuinely good. The best approach: arrive before 10am, hit the fishmonger first, pick up something warm from one of the takeaway vendors, and eat it on the water.
