Jimmy Cerchione opened this deli in East Dallas in 1966, and decades later it remains the city's most convincing argument that great Italian food has no zip code requirement. The shelves are stacked floor-to-ceiling with imported pasta, tinned fish, and wines you won't find anywhere else in Texas. The sandwich counter is where the legend lives - muffulettas and Italian subs built with the kind of care that makes the crosstown drive mandatory.
