Pioneertown was built in 1946 by Hollywood investors as a working Western movie set, named after the Sons of the Pioneers, and more than fifty films and shows were shot on its dirt main street. This building spent the 1970s as a biker bar called The Cantina serving burritos, until Harriet and Claude Allen turned it into a honky tonk in 1982. The kitchen cooks spare ribs and ribeye over mesquite in the same room where Robert Plant once wandered in and jammed with the Sunday house band.
