Sonoma County raises Willie Bird turkeys, and for nearly forty years the family restaurant on Santa Rosa Avenue was the place that cooked them year round instead of once a winter. Joe Castro bought the business in 2020 and reopened it on Sonoma Highway as The Bird, keeping the turkey menu and adding a full bar and live music. The Mama Bird stacks turkey, stuffing and cranberry into a sandwich, which is Thanksgiving on a Tuesday and entirely the point.
