Mini Kabob has been at the same address on Vine Street in Glendale since 1987, operated by the Martirosyan family who brought Armenian recipes with Egyptian influences from their great-grandparents' heritage. Son Armen joined in 2015 and refined the recipes to the point where the restaurant earned spots on the LA Times' 101 Best Restaurants and the New York Times' Top 50 nationwide. The operation is tiny - a takeout window, a picnic table out front - but the lula kabobs, chicken thigh shish, and Egyptian-style hummus have developed a serious following.
