X'tiosu Kitchen is a small counter on Forest Avenue in Boyle Heights run by brothers Ignacio and Felipe Santiago, Oaxacan cooks who learned the trade in a Lebanese kitchen. The food sits on both sides of that training at once, so the house signature is a chicken shawarma taco and the hummus is made with black beans. The room is tiny and it closes Sunday and Monday, so plan a weekday lunch and lead with the shawarma taco.
