Canlis opened in 1950 and the same family has run it ever since, which in American fine dining is close to unheard of. The view of Lake Union through floor to ceiling glass is the kind restaurants put in their marketing and then fail to live up to; this one lives up to it. The dry aged Muscovy duck has held its place on the menu for years, and the bourbon list runs deeper than the room lets on.
