Tucked behind the Fifth Avenue Hotel's lobby, The Portrait Bar channels an Italian villa - all dark wood and curated art - but the real journey happens in the glass. Bar Director Darryl Chan builds a cocktail menu around specific destinations, reworking classics with unexpected ingredients: the Mapo District layers sesame-oil-washed Laphroaig with soju and pineapple-vanilla cordial; the Kochi reimagines a whisky sour with yuzu and sarsaparilla. Chef Andrew Carmellini's "Parlor Snacks" are small, refined bites designed to complement, not compete - the kind of bar food that actually tastes intentional.
