The building is an old manufactured lunch wagon that has sat on Pine Street since 1919, which is why the dining room narrows like a rail car, and the hours have made it Polk Gulch’s default last stop for a century. Portuguese owners took over in 1989 and quietly hung a board of daily Portuguese specials next to the burgers, so bacalhau and Portuguese style wings sit alongside steak and eggs. Doors stay open until four in the morning and it is cash only.
