The pedestrian plaza at the center of LA's Chinatown has been the neighborhood's hub since the 1940s - lined with restaurants, tea houses, herb shops, and bakeries. It's not a single restaurant so much as an ecosystem worth exploring slowly: grab pineapple buns from Phoenix Bakery, noodles from a counter stall, and a cocktail from one of the newer bars that's moved into the neighborhood.
